Proud, diverse and experienced, Asheville Gay Men’s Chorus aims to convey stories through music to an increasingly diverse audience. Over the last two years we have seen an exciting increase of people attending our concerts, our Cabaret show and other events. The addition of Man Treble has taken us out to surrounding communities, and soon the ensemble will travel to Charleston, SC to be part of the annual Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
For over 20 years Asheville Gay Men’s Chorus has utilized the power of music not just to entertain, but equally important, to help create awareness, advocate for social justice issues and open minds to the broad diversity of the LGBTQ community. Challenges remain for the rights of many in the LGBTQ community and unfortunately the current environment of bullying and hate has risen. As Ambassadors we reach a broad audience and provide an opportunity to encourage understanding and create tolerance through music.
With growth comes opportunity. Our plans are to sing beyond the city of Asheville into surrounding communities is possible. With sustainable funding we plan to convey more stories and share the human experience through song.
